Hey, I plan to be back!
Hey gang, long time no write.
For the last year or so I’ve been really locked in on my weightloss and other goals so haven’t been writing as much. Another part of that was that I had a conceptualization of a very large philosophical project that I really believe in. If at anytime in the last 18 months you heard me say I was writing a book, this is that.
But I found that I fell into the perfectionism trap with it. I wanted the project to be so good that there is a near infinite amount of research and polish I felt the project deserved. This has lead to no results. And even in the best case where I write my magnum opus, like 8 people in the world would read it.
I’ve decided to write more often with a lower threshold of polish and research. Not to say my posts won’t be considered, but they’ll be closer to draft than I have in the past. It’ll be more of me working through the ideas instead of a broad pronouncing of fact and truth.
So I’m planning on writing 1 post per week that is less than 1000 words. Feedback will be greatly welcome.
It is a great time of change for me and our society in general.
If you don’t follow me on Facebook or saw in the Register-Mail, I’m moving from Galesburg to Chicago in March. So my writings on Galesburg will be much fewer. I still have some thoughts but there will only be so much. I should definitely have new urbanism thoughts in Chicago, there will be much to explore and discuss!
This move was enabled by my continued weightloss, which as of this morning I’m down 237 lbs in total, with about 60-80 lbs more to go. I have so much more energy now and have a lot to see and do. And I’m also turning 30 in the next few weeks so it’s feeling time for a change.
I appreciate everyone who’s read me over the years. I hope to be putting out better new works coming soon. I’ll be focused on philosophy with the applied lessons of science today, urbanism still, health, society, and whatever else I might think of! But it’ll mostly be the philosophy project, there’s lots to be said.
I’m planning to post an introduction to the ideas next week. I’m excited!
Hope you’ve been well!
